Brazil is the largest producer and exporter of coffee in the world, representing 30% of total production. The country is divided into different coffee growing regions, one of the best known being the state of Minas Gerais, with sub-regions as famous as Matas de Minas from which this coffee comes.

It is a humid region whose climate favors natural pulping processing. In fact, Matas de Minas is famous for its natural pulped coffees. In 2017, the city of Arapuesta was home to 14 of the 27 coffees that won the Cup of Excellence in the Natural Pulped Category of Brazil.

THE COUNTRY OF COFFEE PAR EXCELLENCE

A FAMILY ESTATE MORE THAN 75 YEARS OLD

Fazenda Dutra is a family coffee farm located in São João do Manhuaçu, 300 kilometers inland from the east coast of Brazil, owned and run by brothers Ednilson and Walter Dutra.

The two brothers were born on the farm and have been coffee producers their entire lives; His father began farming in the 1950s with one hectare, purchasing a second and third hectare with the profits from the farm until he grew his land to more than 1,100 hectares.

In September 1999, the ranch passed to his children, who have continued to honor their father's legacy.

BIODIVERSITY & ZERO EMISSIONS OPERATIONS

Fazenda Dutra has organically planted coffee plantations that are home to great biodiversity. The entire extension of coffee plantations supports different specialized habitats, both micro and macro, for all types of flora and fauna. In its crops it is common to find a wide variety of plants, animals, insects and birds.

In addition, the Fazenda has an installation of photovoltaic panels with the capacity to generate more than 275,000 KWh of electricity per year. This implies an offset of more than 190 tons of CO2 in its operations, which are currently largely covered thanks to these zero-emission energies.
